Dear Apple,
I recently replaced my "old" (not really) MacBook Pro (MBP) because the hard drive was failing (for the second time). I got a brand new MBP (with the glossy screen that I hate) in mid-June 2009.
So imagine my dismay when I start getting long system-wide freezes and find lots of these in /var/log/system.log:
... kernel[0]: disk0s2: I/O error.
Yes, I'm already getting I/O errors from the internal drive on this new MBP.
As computer professionals yourselves, you can probably imagine what a hassle it is to get this sorted out, depending, as you do (and as I do), on your computers for nearly all of your day-to-day business activities.
So, here's my question: Is this something I'm gonna need to deal with every couple of months?
Oh, here's my other question: Do you test the drives in these computers before you sell them? Because, seriously, two months is a pretty short time in which to have a drive failure. And when I include my previous experiences with your laptop drives, I have serious concerns.
Love & kisses,
~Tim
